Spend a Long Weekend with Us in Petritoli

Our suggested itinerary for making the most of this little slice of Italian heaven

We’re lucky enough to have been calling Petritoli our “home from home” for the last 20 years. So, we see ourselves as quite the experts when it comes to enjoying everything this stunning hilltop village has to offer…

And you don’t need long to experience the magic. Just a few days here can feel like a true escape, full of simple pleasures, good food and incredible views that linger in your memory long after you leave.

Friday: Arrive, unwind and toast to the view 🥂

The best time to arrive in Petritoli is late afternoon: just in time to watch the golden light stretch across the Sibillini mountains. And, of course, with your Appassionata home, everything has been taken care of, so all you have to do is unpack and pour that first glass of wine…

Ease back into La Dolce Vita with dinner outside at Ristorante Re Squarchio, a long-standing family favourite, tucked beneath Petritoli’s ancient archways, situated adjacent to Casa Tre Archi. Their seasonal dishes are delicious, and their relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect place to begin your weekend.

Saturday: Slow mornings and local flavour 🤌🏻

Start your Saturday with coffee and pastries at Bar Gelateria Tre Archi, a much-loved spot perfectly placed on the main piazza. You can watch the world wake up as the piazza fills with locals on their way to the shops, or perhaps they are heading down to the beach. You may also be lucky enough that it is one of the two Market days of the month, where you’ll find fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses and a mixture of fashion, shoe and haberdashery stalls: the perfect way to ease into the day and pick up ingredients for a laid-back, homemade lunch.

Spend the rest of the morning wandering through Petritoli’s historic centre. From the clock tower to the theatre, every corner offers an insight into the village’s rich past. In fact, you only need to look up at the buildings to see a whole orchestra of Italian architecture.

In the afternoon, take a short drive down to La Baia Beach Club to spend a few hours by the sea. Whether you stretch out on a sun lounger, enjoy a swim or simply relax with a spritz in hand, it’s a peaceful spot to soak up the Adriatic coast.

Head back to Petritoli in the early evening to freshen up before dinner. Then make your way to Cantina Antisociale, where creative dishes, a contemporary atmosphere and al fresco dining bring something unique and special to Petritoli’s dining scene.

Sunday: Countryside strolls and long lunches 🍴

Head into town to gather a few things from Panetteria Il Forno, the local bakery, then pack a picnic and head into the hills for a peaceful breakfast with a view. There are plenty of quiet spots just outside the village where you can hit pause, sit under the olive trees and appreciate the natural beauty of Le Marche. If you feel like more of a hike then head into the mountains and enjoy the amazing Sibillini National Park, the views, mountain lakes, waterfalls, wildlife and abundant walking trails are hard to resist.

If you loved experiencing local produce while surrounded by the serenity of rolling hills, consider venturing out to Tenuta Cocci Grifoni: a winery founded in the 1930s. Known for their wide variety, excellent service and stunning views, this is a hidden gem that we’d name a “must visit”.

After a few glasses of wine, you might not feel like cooking, so why not pick up a wood-fired pizza from one of the local takeaways, our favourite being Danny's Pizza, in the valley below Petritoli, and enjoy it back at home with your feet up? It’s the perfect no-fuss way to end the day.

As evening falls, if you feel up to it, stroll into the piazza for an authentic homemade gelato, from the locally famous Bar Gelateria Tre Archi, and see what’s happening up in the centre of the village, in the summer often vibrant, filled with local families and visitors. There is often live music or a small festa.

Monday: One last wander and a quiet farewell 👋🏻

Start the day by heading into town to pick up a takeaway coffee and some of your favourite Italian treats before enjoying a relaxing breakfast at home. Then, it’s time to head off, pack the suitcase and close the shutters on your Appassionata home (only for now though - as you know you will be back).

Mornings feel especially peaceful, with a gentle calm that makes it even harder to leave. But the charm of Petritoli is that it never really feels like goodbye, it’s a see you soon…______________________________________________________________________________

If you’re dreaming of your own Italian escape, why not come and experience it for yourself?

Our discovery visits offer the perfect chance to explore Petritoli, meet our team and get a true taste of the good life. It’s a relaxed, no-pressure way to see what fractional ownership with Appassionata is really like, and to find out if it could really become a part of your story.
