Slow-Living September in Le Marche
Summer may be over, but La Dolce Vita isn’t…
Although technically autumn, September in Le Marche feels more like an unofficial, extended summer.
The beaches are still open, the weather is mild and pleasant, yet the pace of life softens as visitors head home and locals prepare for the grape harvest and olive picking. It’s a season of calm, of slowing down, and of enjoying simple pleasures with fewer crowds.
Harvest Season
This time of year, our vineyards come alive with grapes that are ready to be picked, de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in the first steps of the winemaking process that defines this region.
Charlie is busy leading the way in the vineyards, making sure every bunch is carefully gathered. Soon, olives will follow: pressed into perfect Italian olive oil that is used in every home, it's a staple part of the Italian diet and not only tastes amazing, but has health benefits well beyond its flavour and multiple uses.
Life Behind the Scenes
Away from the fields, India is preparing the residency calendar and next year’s booking schedule for Appassionata owners.
Even though September feels quieter it’s an important period for making sure everything runs smoothly for the year ahead: it’s a perfect balance of organisation and anticipation.
Calmer Days
With children back at school and fewer tourists around, the towns and piazzas feel even more local.
There’s more time for those simple conversations, unhurried coffee breaks, and a stronger sense of community as the region settles back into its natural pace.
Simple Pleasures
For Michael and Charlie, this means golf, cycling, and motorbike rides through the countryside.
Sunny afternoons still invite hours by the sea, while cosy evenings are spent with friends and family in our favourite local spots. It’s a season that blends work with leisure and shows why life here is so rewarding.
